Dan's Master's Thesis
Narrative and rhetorical aspects of the diary weblog

Theorizing the Diary Weblog

Rather than expect anyone to read a 21-page post, I've put up my master's thesis, "Theorizing the Diary Weblog" as a PDF.

Theorizing the Diary Weblog

The essay has six sections: introduction, the blog, taxonomy toward the diary weblog, the blogger — identity on the diary weblog, rhetorical elements of the diary weblog, and the conclusion. The main object of study is the seven "best writing" Bloggie nominees for 2005 and 2006.

My advisor thought the end was too self-deprecating, and after reading it over again I'm starting to agree. But you can't re-write the past.

Kate Raynes-Goldie, who I cited in this thesis, has criticized that citation in the comment section for this post. I've reacted to that criticism there.

Hi Dan,
I'd love to read your Master's Thesis, but the PDF file appears to be corrupted, or won't open on my machine. I haven't had problems with other PDF files. Is there another way I can access this?
Thanks!

Sorry about that, it got messed up in a server switch. The link should work now.
