I was outside for a while this afternoon. With the camera! And because I know how much you like pictures of small animals, here's a shot of one of our fearless bunnies.
My fencing has always been more than enough to keep them out of the garden (You dare to test my blade, lapin? En garde!), and they don't mess with Matt's flowers, so we have absolutely no problem with these guys. Which means that they don't really mind us: if you're not running at them, you can get pretty close before they decide to flee.
As for my nemesis the woodchuck... I'm not sure if it's because of my fortifications or because he didn't like the taste of cayenne, but he's been leaving the garden alone. Here's how it looks today:
There are hot pepper plants hidden within those tomatoes... it's probably gotten too shady for them down there, but I'm holding out hope yet. Two of the tomato plants, the Early Girl and the Brandywine, have already set fruit:
That's the Brandywine. It's a potato leaf if you're wondering why it looks a bit weird.
I can't wait for fresh tomatoes. And heirloom tomatoes are like the craft beer of fruit.
