I took a pseudo-mandatory vacation day today; so far I haven't made much of it, but it has been nice to read my daily blogs without giving anyone the impression that I'm goldbricking.
Big, big news: I got a new phone this week, with a new plan that gives me free unlimited texting — just receiving texts probably cost me $5 last month with my old plan, so in the next week I'm going to try and figure out who does and doesn't want to be txted. Mass-texting is such an incredibly non-confrontational and convenient way to make plans, especially if, like me, you don't enjoy spending long amounts of time on the phone for petty calls.
(I still don't understand where all my high school phone skills up and wandered off to...)
On the Sprint online store I couldn't order a new phone and a new plan at the same time and still keep my old number, so setting that up through their customer service number was an ordeal. I probably spent about two hours on the phone this week, getting shuffled around between departments, with each department getting something slightly wrong. At one point my monthly phone bill was going to be $120.
I gather that there are "notes" about me in their call center database. Well, whatever, I don't expect to have to call them again for at least two years. And since so many people I know have Sprint, I wasn't about to switch networks and lose out on all those free calls.
So. Vacation day. I should probably motivate.
