Yesterday night I finally started reading Perdido Street Station. I guess I thought it would be bad? And so far it's awesome, a completely original fantasy world. I wish I could make the psychological leap from browsing the Internet during my downtime at the office to reading an actual book —but that seems a little crass. Better to pretend that there's always work to be done around here.
So I stayed up too late, which is what happens every single time I try to read a good book before bed, and I ended up with crazy dreams. In my last dream of the night I was continually pestered by an incredibly irritating girl, whom I tried repeatedly to ditch. That's right, I had a nightmare in which I wasn't scared or confused, merely annoyed.
No one else in the dream believed me that this girl was annoying (thanks a lot, dream counterparts of you guys), but she was so annoying that I half-expected her to materialize in the room when I awoke, ready to follow me around for the rest of the day. Luckily for me, she does not exist.
I bought some tomatoes at the Farmer's Market on Sunday; I guess I just couldn't wait until my own tomatoes ripened. I suspect some sort of shenanigans on the grower's part here, but whatever, hurrah for tomato season. BLTs all around.
Related: I spent part of my $25 Amazon Visa kickback on a tomato cookbook. I've decided that this was a wise choice because I have six tomato plants and no tomato recipes. I'm down with the whole "tomatoes as sandwich and burger topping" scene... but apparently you can do other things? For example, sometimes pasta sauce is made from tomatoes instead of flour and butter and milk. Who knew?
