Speaking as a Star Wars geek, Family Guy's hour-long Star Wars parody was pretty awesome. Leisurely extended gags, references to forgotten but instantly recognizable pop culture ephemera, re-creations of everyday nonsense — this is the stuff I love about Family Guy.
But this show also managed some spot-on satire of A New Hope — matching many scenes shot-for-shot, highlighting flaws that only fans would notice, pointing out funny inconsistencies I'd never thought about, and cleverly perverting the original throughout.
(And while this is very minor: as one of the few living Home Movies fans, I appreciated the brief shot of Coach McGuirk. Pour a Black Hole Brew on the sidewalk in remembrance.)
