I recently read a 7,000-word article/publicity stunt about a famous violinist who spent a morning playing for money at a D.C. Metro station, and frankly I was shocked, shocked, that the lexeme "busk" was nowhere to be found.
So yesterday night, when Patty opined that instead of playing her guitar at gigs she should just become a busker, my immediate response was a loud, gratified "thank you!"
(Hopefully my joy at the proper use of the right word was not misinterpreted.)
Key: I think about language every single day. I also realize that the vast majority of people are not nearly as interested in the Oxford comma, the greengrocer's apostrophe, or WTF grammar. This is OK. But I'm working on making another blog (my sixth!) so that I can write about this stuff with less shame.
